Teen Baking Club: May 2026
Have a home-school teen looking to be more prepared in the kitchen?
Come join our 4-week tutorial on all things BAKING held here at McKibbon Hollow.
In this drop-off tutorial, teens will learn the foundational basics of baking. Each week we will tackle a core category of baked goods:
Week 1: Sweet Treats (Cookies, Brownies, Bundt Cakes)
Week 2: Bread Week (Sandwich Bread, Boules, Focaccia & Dinner Rolls)
Week 3: Pie Week (Pie Crusts, Par-Baking, Fillings)
Week 4: Breakfast Week (Cinnamon Rolls, English Muffins, Bagels, Biscuits)
Each session, your teen will participate in learning how to cook the basics for the featured topic of the day. Your teen will receive a binder of recipes and resources (filled in each week), as well as enjoy baked goods made together in class.
Required Session Dates (from 11:00 a.m. -2:30 p.m.)
Monday, April 27, 2026
Monday, May 4, 2026
Monday, May 11, 2026
Monday, May 18, 2026
Students are provided with tools needed (apron, knives, cutting board, & groceries), with an option to purchase supplies at the end of the tutorial, if desired. No baking experience necessary to join the cooking club.
Before you reserve your seat, please note:
Students need to be 11 years and older with a max age of 16, to join the Teen Baking Club.
These workshops build on each other in terms of skills, and it is expected that your teen will attend all sessions, as included in the cost.
Sessions run from 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., and this is a drop-off tutorial. It is expected that students are picked up promptly at the end of the session.
Seating is limited, only 6 spaces available. We must have 4 students sign up for the cooking club to run. If the tutorial is canceled due to attendance, you will be notified and refunded in full.
The cost includes instruction, resources, and groceries for all 4 sessions. Supplies are provided for each student and included in the cost. However, should your student want to keep their supplies (Knife set, whisk, apron, cutting board, etc.), you can purchase it for $35 on the last day of the tutorial, if desired.
Once signed up, if you have to miss a session, I am unable to offer a refund on that session due to the amount of prep required from these workshops and your seat.
Please make sure to use an email you check frequently upon payment, as all details regarding the workshop and prep materials will be sent there. An email with final details will be sent the week of your workshop.
A note about allergies. I do use flours of all kinds, all types of sugars, a full range of dairy products as well as all sorts of nuts in my kitchen; I am unable to guarantee a lack of cross contamination because of this. Please note this before signing up. Further, we do have the worlds best dog who is sometimes in our home, and we have several bee hives on our property as well as rabbits. Exposure to these animals/allergens is possible while on our property.
A personal note about teaching: I homeschooled my boys for 3 years after the pandemic, and really enjoyed joining small groups and giving my boys unique experiences in terms of education. These sessions are built with that spirit in mind - that these are foundational life skills, that will hopefully guide your teen as they move forward in the kitchen. In addition, I’ve taught hundreds of adults how to make sourdough bread and other lovely nourishing skills in my From Scratch Friday’s workshop series, here in my home. And, in my former life, I used to teach college-level courses regularly. I deeply enjoy sharing my hard earned knowledge with others, and it gives me such joy to see people use their new skills in the kitchen.
